About Me: I love writing! I write a lot. I tend to carry a notebook around with me to write my stories, novels, poems, etc. I love animals. I have 10 cats of my own (hence the nickname) and i take care of the stray animals i see on the street. I love all kinds of music! I have too many siblings - my father started having kids at a young age. I grew up reading Harry Potter, and i am on Team Jacob. I'm not into horror movies because I'm sort of a big scardy cat. I love to eat and cook/bake - I'm headed off to culinary school in January. Oh, and I've been told that my train of thought goes in zig zags and take very long detours.

I'm also very interested in cultures and languages. I really like to read but my studies are taking a lot of my time nowadays so unfortunately I don't have as much time for reading as I'd like to. Stephenie Meyer repulses me, to the point where I write her hate mail. The room I sleep in is always a mess. I love the internet too much, and I love comic books. I am a gossip. Dog the Bounty Hunter (I know, I know), Bones, Glee (It's addicting), Maury, Judge Judy, To Catch a predator, Forensic Files. This is absolutely disgusting but I have seen every episode of EVERY Law and Order series and spin-off (including Homicide: Life on the street and Trial by Jury). What are you looking for in a penpal? Someone who has things to say. Other than talking about how great your partner is. Your boyfriend, girlfriend is a part of your life but you are two seperate people not an entity. I want to hear about your life and crooked teeth, what feeds your soul, and what makes you mad, what you want out of life. What boring shit you do day to day. What makes you tick. It's a plus if you don't mind that I will occasionally facebook stalk you.

Unconventional gratitude

Okay, I think it's pretty much a given that most people (barring disastrous/extenuating circumstances) are going to be grateful for their parents and siblings, their friends, their health, being alive, having a job/education/both, and for whatever happens to inspire them (music, art, team sports, God, movies, Bacardi, gymnastics, iguanas, Q-tips, or what have you). And I am very grateful for all of those general things, as far as they apply to me. But because they are so obvious, I am going to challenge myself to find five OTHER things I'm grateful for. Here they are:

5. Physical affection. There is nothing that can make me feel more loved, welcomed, wanted or included than a warm handshake, a tight hug, a friendly high-five, a lusty kiss, or even something simple like a touch on the arm or a pat on the back. And I am grateful that people other than myself feel this way as well!

4. My black leather jacket. Because it's so badass. I can wear it with jeans and a white t-shirt and feel like James Dean or one of the Boondock Saints. Plus it actually keeps me quite warm.

3. Philosophy. The fact that a whole field of study exists to analyze and discuss thought, logic, reason and opinion in pretty much every way possible is, to me, absolutely amazing. It gives me hope for humanity that some of us still value challenging intelligent discourse that highly.

2. Penn & Teller's Bullshit! Even though I don't always agree with everything they say in it (I'm not an atheist, for example), I always enjoy watching this show. Moreover, I believe those guys are doing a job that our world desperately needs: taking a long, close, researched, multi-sided look at aspects of today's society that are given much more credence, attention and money than they should be, and asking hard questions about these aspects' validity, veracity, and value in an attempt to spread the truth, debunk hoaxes, expose corruption/inaccuracy/ridiculity, and improve society as a whole. (That they are hilarious doesn't hurt either--it actually encourages people not to take themselves too seriously.) IMO, everyone should watch this show.

1. Suburbs. I know a lot of people really object to suburban sprawl, and I think there are probably some better ways suburbia could be handled (though I'm not sure what they are), but for myself I find that suburbs make up the perfect environment for me to live in--not too urban and not too rural. There are enough residences, parks and schools that trees and pavement balance each other out really well, as do people and open space. There are plenty of options for food, coffee, shopping, and entertainment, yet most places are not insanely crowded except at a few peak times. There are enough roads to get around without driving on one road for an hour (and find good shortcuts), but not so many that they all have to be one-way streets with no parking options. You can see the stars, but there are still streetlights to drive by. And if you need to go downtown or out of town, just hop on the highway and drive 20 minutes. 30, tops. Having been in both downtown Chicago and rural Buena Vista (CO) recently, I can very readily tell you how grateful for suburbs both of those places have made me.

A boring Friday night

1. We All Fall Down - All Time Low
All Time Low is my favorite band & somehow that means I automatically like every one of their songs, at least for now. This is one of their older songs & it's a little more raw than the new stuff. It also means that I have no idea what the lyrics are half of the time.

2. Heartbeats - Jose González
One of my favorite feel-good songs. It has such a relaxing and a cozy melody. It's also a good song to fall asleep to.

3. Use Somebody - Kings Of Leon
I used to be obsessed with their older song On Call & got kind of sick of it. Their new album is simply amazing & I love hearing them on the radio / seeing them on TV. I seriously love Caleb's voice.

4. This Is The End - The Maine
I've only recently discovered The Maine. Not my favorite song by them but I like it.

5. Champagne for My Real Friends, Real Pain for My Sham Friends - Fall Out Boy
I love Fall Out Boy. I love their ridiculously long and weird song titles & their amazing lyrics that sometimes make no sense to me. I can listen to this album [From Under The Cork Tree] a few times all the way through without getting tired of it. Love it!

6. 3AM - Busted
Busted was my favorite band when I was around 13-14 years old. This used to be my favorite dramatic song. These days I have to be in a very special type of mood to be able to listen to them.

7. My Heart Is The Worst Kind Of Weapon - Fall Out Boy
Definitely one of my favorites. Acoustic is always a win.

8. Maintain Consciousness - Relient K
I don't know. I love some of their songs & some of their songs are pretty blah. This fits somewhere in between.

9. I Will Follow You Into The Dark - Death Cab For Cutie
One of my favorite songs. I love singing along to this song. My younger sister recently discovered this song & every time she meets me & my iPod she puts this song on. Fear is the heart of love, so I never went back.

10. See The Sun - The Kooks
I don't really listen to the Kooks. I used to love She Moves in Her Own Way so my friend hooked me up with two of their album & they have been on my iTunes/iPod ever since. It's okay though.

And now I'm going to watch She's The Man with my family :]

Top 5 Disney Movies

It's tough to really narrow it down to 5, but here goes:

1. Aladdin - hands down
(after this it gets a little fuzzy, anything after Aladdin is subject to change..)

2. Mulan
3. Lion King
4. Pocahontas
5. The Sword and the Stone

Fun Fact: I'm 21, and I watch Aladdin at least 3 times a month, every month. I am not joking.

01. Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
Everyone's entitled to their guilty pleasure song from '06, right? Right? ... Shut up.

02. Family Tree - Belle & Sebastian
I can't get enough of Belle & Sebastian. They seriously can do no wrong.

03. Carry That Weight - The Beatles
The Beatles are also on my "can do no wrong" list (with the one exception of Revolution No. 9. Oh, Yoko). I love Carry That Weight, though. Side two of Abbey Road is one of my favorite things in the world.

04. Goodbye Blue Sky - Pink Floyd
I grew up on Pink Floyd, particularly The Wall, so they'll always have a piece of my heart. The stranger, slightly demented part of my heart that likes to despondantly watch TV and do drugs all day, but a part of my heart just the same.

05. Laughing With A Mouth Of Blood - St. Vincent
St. Vincent is probably my favorite artist for the time being. I just love everything about Annie Clark's music. Actor is almost too crazy for me, but just almost. I still absolutely adore it. Marry Me, however, is what heaven should sound like.

06. You Love Me - Kimya Dawson
Kimya Dawson and I should be best friends. End of story.

07. Plasticities - Andrew Bird
Andrew Bird should marry me. End of story.

08. Life On Mars? - David Bowie
This is one of my absolute favorite songs and I can honestly not even explain why. Life On Mars?, Drive-In Saturday, and Heroes all have a spot in my top 50 favorite songs. I really just love David Bowie.

09. Ampersand - Amanda Palmer
Oh man, Amanda Palmer. Amanda Palmer, Amanda Palmer, Amanda Palmer. Somedays I want to just roll my eyes and shake my head at her, and other days I absolutely love her. Ampersand will always be one of my favorite songs, though, I think.

10. Little Shadow (Acoustic) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Am I the only one who likes acoustic version of songs more than the originals? Please tell me I'm not the only one. Especially when it's Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

I'm actually looking for new friends that share my taste in music, so new friends are greatly welcomed! I love this community way too much.

(no subject)

whokay, felt like shuffling because today is going to be a great day! now, at the moment I am listening to Conditions which is a fabulous album by a great new Aussie band The Temper Trap. Highly recommend it. But since that wouldn't be much of a shuffle, I'll give you this list here =]

1. Sucker Train Blues - Velvet Revolver

We'll begin the day with some hard rocking guitar and drums, with a bit rusty vocals in there. Sing with me! When I'm runnin with the devil don't deliver the fight

2. Paint it Black - The Rolling Stones

In keeping with tradition, another rock song that you can sing to by the classic Stones. I see a red door and I want it painted black

3. Dawn of the Dead - Does It Offend You, Yeah?

When you see the name, sounds pretty dark and creepy (well, that's what I first pictured). Instead there is a electro-rock/pop song that is pretty darn catchy! If you say so I'll leave home

4. Use Somebody - Kings of Leon

Now, Kings have hit it high. Their new stuff isn't bad, especially Closer and Sex on Fire. But I don't think that they can recapture the music they made back in the day, such as The Bucket or Molly's Chamber. I'm ready now

5. Shimmy a Go Go - Short Stack

I don't know whether to be ashamed or not that this tweeny-pop song is on my playlist. I must admit, I was hooked on this song when it first came out, but their next few singles were slightly shocking. Just glad I didn't buy the album, I don't know if I would have been able to cope with Shaun's scratchy vocals for an hour... We're lovers with such precision so say goodbye

6. Forever Young - Youth Group

Yes, I know this is a cover but it is seriously good. It's great as a laid-back mellow song that anyone can sing along to. Who doesn't want to be forever young? Youth is like diamonds in the sun, and diamonds are forever

7. Gobbledigook - Sigur Ros

Ohkay, now I don't actually know any of the words in this song because it is all in Icelandic. But who cares??? It is so upbeat and happy that I just want to dance and sing along with the 'lalalalalalalalas'! Vindur í hárinu - úú

8. Bella - Angus and Julia Stone

This has to be one of, if not, my favourite song of theirs. It is so sweet and innocent and the lyrics are timeless. So you took her hand and she gave a look that sent you to the moon

9. Blind - Lifehouse

I bought this record 4 years ago on a holiday to Kuala Lumpar. We then spent 3 days on an island off the coast of Sabah, and this CD was the one in my discman, so whenever I hear a song of theirs, it reminds me of the holiday. This is my favourite due to the lyrics and Jason's perfect voice. A past so deep that even you could not bury if you tried

10. Rebel Yell - Billy Idol

I love Billy. I really do. With his platinum hair and deep voice....mmm. Just don't watch the video for Hot in the City...cringe-worthy! Last night a little dancer came dancin' to my door
